THE INTERVIEW PROCESS and WHERE IT STANDS
Randy Lerner Begins The Process Of Fixing The Browns
The Browns have had face to face talks with Scott Pioli and he appears to be their FIRST choice to head the Browns Front Office.
The 2 major sticking points are ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE, (which includes how much control one man has) and the possibility of bringing on a College coach, (Kirk Ferentz) to be the next HC.
Both parties continue to talk via the phone as each side continues it's due diligence. I.E. Pioli talking to the Chiefs and the Browns interviewing HC candidates.
Up next for the Browns in their GM search are Tom Heckert from the Eagles and George Kokinis from the Ravens. T.J. McCreight has been interviewed for the vacant GM position.
We have interviewed Steve Spagnulo, Eric Mangini, Mel Tucker and Josh McDanials for HC.
Randy Lerner will continue to do his due diligence on all fronts.

Owner expects scrutiny, feels strongly Mangini-Kokinis tandem will bring wins
By Patrick McManamon
Beacon Journal sports columnist
The Browns seem prepared to move down the road toward hiring Eric Mangini as their coach and George Kokinis as their personnel guru.
This train seems loaded. Whether it rolls will be answered when Kokinis interviews, and that won't happen until Sunday (according to Cleveland.com).

Comes word that Randy Lerner will have to wait until Sunday to interview Baltimore's George Kokinis. That's not a bad thing.
Even if it were only to double check how to pronounce "Kokinis," Lerner could use the time wisely:
Here's the definition of "wisely:"
1) Get a final answer from Scott Pioli. It's clear that Pioli is either committed to a coach (Kirk Ferentz) that Lerner doesn't want to hire or isn't really all that serious about leaving New England. So give him a deadline and move on if nothing changes.

Fireworks may appease fans, but they don't promise NFL success for Browns
by Terry Pluto/Plain Dealer Columnist
1. Unless something shocking happens, Eric Mangini will become the next coach of the Browns. They are convinced he is the best coach available, given that Bill Cowher, Mike Holmgren and some other big names are taking a year off. There is no guarantee Mike Shanahan will even want to coach when he returns from his vacation. He is tired and has about $20 million coming in from his contract over the next few years.

Browns must wait until Sunday for Kokinis, but is deal with Mangini growing near?
by Tony Grossi/Plain Dealer Reporter
The Browns will have to wait until Sunday to interview Baltimore director of pro personnel George Kokinis for their vacant general manager job.
The question now is whether owner Randy Lerner will hire his preferred coach, Eric Mangini, before then, as indications grew stronger on Monday that a deal with Mangini was imminent.

A George Kokinis-Eric Mangini pairing at Browns headquarters in Berea is one step closer to reality.
The Ravens have given the Browns permission to interview Kokinis, the pro personnel director in Baltimore, for the vacant job of general manager at 76 Lou Groza Boulevard, a source said Sunday.
Mangini is team owner Randy Lerner's choice to replace Romeo Crennel as head coach, according to numerous sources close to the interview process. Mangini recommended Kokinis for general manager last week while being interviewed by Lerner.
